NAPO Sacramento In the Community
Getting Organized at Francis House
NAPO Sacramento has once again reached out to help others. Five
professional organizers from our NAPO Sacramento chapter have donated a
total of over 25 hours to Francis House. Our volunteers were Gwynnae
Byrd, Sharon Testo, Ann Nagel, Melinda Brovelli, and coordinator,
Natalie Conrad.
Their mission was to purge and reorganize the office and supply room
of the executive director. These organizers tossed, recycled,
collected, organized, and labeled documents, articles, files, and office
supplies. More than 4 large city garbage cans were filled. During this
process the executive director of Francis House worked extremely hard to
purge the office of irrelevant materials, while saving precious
history. This was a team effort that resulted in a huge impact. The
staff and volunteers began to call the organizers "Angels" for working
so hard on a daunting task; over 16 years of paper documentation to be
organized and stored.
Francis House is a Sacramento based non-profit that stands in the
gap and helps the homeless population in areas that other charity
organizations cannot. Francis House is a resource and counseling center
for the poor supported by seventeen churches and the community at large.
Their services include such things as simple as a referral to a food
closet, providing a motel voucher or as complex as advocacy for a client
in the Welfare system. Each year, thousands of men, women and children
receive personal attention for their problems.
NAPO Sacramento at Organize-it
Our chapter visited NAPO Sacramento Associate member "The Organize-it
Store" on Sunrise Blvd for our August general meeting. We had a tour of
the latest organizing products and services offered. Learn more about Organize-it on our associates page!
Karen Parsegian
Our chapter has had the honor of learning and growing along with our
amazing friend, Karen Parsegian. Karen recently lost her sight and is
transitioning in her home organization from sighted to non-sighted
techniques and systems.
Professional organizers Shelly Fletcher, Kristi Keddy, Melinda Hartman,
Cynthia Carstens and project coordinator Kelli Wilson have worked with
Karen to create a new set of eyes for her home office.
Community Education on AD/HD
Certified professional organizer, Holly Graff presented to our chapter and guests at a special evening event.
Many of our organizing clients face the daily challenges of AD/HD.
Holly give an informative talk on the facts about AD/HD as well as some
